Recipe:
This gorgeous recipe was given to me by one of my lovely case study clients that helped me when I was studying for my diploma. She made some and bought some for me and shared the recipe.
Its so simple and its now become my favourite.
If everyone is having a drink, I add this to a lovely Mediterranean tonic with a slice of lime and some ice and put it in a gin glass, its feels very grown up and tastes delicious.
Its also a fantastic way to start the day as a straight shot. The ginger is a great anti inflammatory spice, the lemon brings lots of vitamin C and is great for helping your liver function and apples have something called Quercetin, a flavonoid which is a powerful antioxidant, so this little shot supports your immune system and helps protect against heart disease as well as keeping the flu at bay during winter.
You will need:
1 Whole Apple cored (cox’s pippins work really well)
1 inch Fresh ginger peeled and chopped
1 Lemon juice & rind
Method:
-Liquidise all the ingredients together in a food processor or juicer.
-You can then tip the pulp into a sieve and push through to get all the liquid out.
-I then mix the remaining pulp to my overnight oats for a lovely zesty zing in the morning.
That way you don’t waste all the lovely fibre and nutrients that are in the pulp.
To make this recipe even more nutritious you could add a tsp of ground turmeric or some grated turmeric root (beware this can get messy !)
